John Deere Disc Harrow Scraper Blades – Understanding Fitment, Replacement, and Left vs Right Side Compatibility
Keeping an older John Deere disc harrow working properly often comes down to maintaining the wear parts that many operators overlook — including the disc scraper blades.
Over time, worn or damaged disc scrapers can allow mud, residue, and field debris to build up on the blades, especially in damp or sticky field conditions. This buildup can reduce disc performance, affect soil flow, and increase cleanup and maintenance time.
For many older John Deere RW, RWA, B Series, AW Series, F Series, E Series, and K Series disc harrows, replacement scraper blades are still available — including aftermarket replacement scraper blades that replace original John Deere part numbers B10447 and B10446.
What Do Disc Harrow Scraper Blades Do?
Disc scraper blades are designed to help keep soil, mud, and crop residue from continuously sticking to the disc blades during operation.
A properly adjusted scraper can help:
- Reduce buildup on disc blades
- Improve field performance in wet conditions
- Maintain more consistent soil flow
- Reduce plugging and carryover
- Help older disc harrows continue operating efficiently
As scraper blades wear thinner over time, they may no longer maintain proper contact or clearance against the disc blade surface.
Replacing John Deere Disc Scraper Blades
Many older John Deere disc harrows originally used scraper blades stamped with OEM part numbers such as, these numbers are all compatible and interchangeable:
- B10446
- B10446B
- B10447
- B10447B
If your existing scraper is still installed, you can often find the original OEM part number stamped directly onto the scraper itself. In this example the scraper blade B10446B is stamped into the part for identification, see photo below:

One helpful feature with many replacement scraper designs is that the same scraper can commonly be flipped to work on either the left or right side of the disc harrow, replacing both John Deere B10446 and B10447 style scrapers depending on orientation.
Here is an example of the mount for the disc scraper commonly found on this disc, notice the part number B10434B is imprinted/raised in the casting, see photo shown below:

This can simplify replacement and reduce the need to stock separate left-hand and right-hand scraper part numbers.
One Scraper Fits Left or Right Side Applications
One advantage of these replacement John Deere disc harrow scraper blades is that the same scraper can be used for both left-hand and right-hand applications.
These scraper blades are designed to replace both:
- John Deere B10446 / B10446B
- John Deere B10447 / B10447B
Depending on installation orientation, the scraper can simply be flipped to fit the opposite side of the disc harrow.
This helps simplify replacement parts inventory while making it easier to service older John Deere tillage equipment.

Because many older John Deere tillage tools have been modified, repaired, or updated over the years, always verify scraper shape, dimensions, and mounting style before ordering replacement parts.
Identifying Your Existing Scraper Blade
If you are unsure whether your existing scraper matches John Deere B10446 or B10447, inspect the top surface of the scraper for a stamped OEM number.
In many cases:
- B10446B and B10447B markings may still be visible
- The scraper shape itself can help identify compatibility
- Existing mounting hole spacing should also be verified
- The left and right side are interchangeable even though they may show different part numbers you only need one part
Reference photos of the disc harrow itself can also help confirm scraper orientation and mounting position, although the scraper blade itself should always be used for final identification.
Keeping Older John Deere Tillage Equipment Working
Many older John Deere disc harrows are still actively used today for food plots, smaller acreage operations, secondary tillage, and restoration projects.
Wear parts like disc scraper blades may seem minor, but they play an important role in helping older tillage equipment continue operating properly in field conditions.
At Northwest Iowa Parts, we believe in helping keep older agricultural equipment working by offering practical replacement wear parts and hardware solutions for machines that still have years of useful service left in them.
